“Super quick to communicate and had issues fixed with panel within two days.”

Whole-home or just the essentials?

A standby generator runs on natural gas or propane and starts itself within seconds of an outage. Whether you need the whole house on it or just the sump pump, the furnace and the fridge depends on how long your outages run and what has to stay on. We size it to the loads you name, not to the biggest unit on the truck.

  • Generator installs
  • Transfer switches
  • Portable generator inlets

What is included

What the job actually involves

  • Whole-home and partial-home standby generators
  • Automatic transfer switches and load management
  • Critical-load panels for the circuits that matter
  • Inlets and manual transfer switches for portable generators
  • Pad placement and clearances that pass inspection
  • Permit, inspection and a full test under load

The part that matters

Sized to the house, not the sale

Too small drops out under load. Too big costs more and runs worse. We walk the house, list what has to stay on, and do the arithmetic. That half hour is included.

Why Central Ohio homes add standby power

Outages here are short and frequent. For most houses the case is one critical load: a sump pump in spring, a freezer, a well pump out past Sunbury, a home office, heat in January. A partial-home system covers that at a fraction of a whole-home unit. Whole-home is the right call when you want to not notice the outage at all.

The transfer switch is the safety device

It isolates your house from the grid before the generator connects, so power cannot flow back onto lines someone is repairing, and it is what makes a standby unit automatic. If you already own a portable generator, an inlet and a manual switch give you a safe, code-compliant way to use it. It is a smaller job than people expect.

Questions

Generator Installation questions

How big a generator do I need?
Depends on what stays on. Sump pump, fridge, furnace and lights is a small unit. Central air and an electric range is not. We add it up with you.
Do I need natural gas?
Natural gas or propane. With neither, a portable generator with an inlet and a transfer switch is the option.
Do you install battery backup systems?
No. We install standby and portable generator setups only.
Does it need a permit?
Yes, and usually an inspection of both the electrical and the gas. We handle the electrical side and coordinate the gas.
Can you add a transfer switch for my portable generator?
Yes. An inlet outside and a manual switch at the panel. No cords through a window, no backfeeding.
