“The owner went out if his way to help with sone demo that needed to be done for another project entirely, just because he is that professional and kind! I tried to tip him, he refused, so coffee on me for the guys! Great team!”

When does a house need a service upgrade?

When the panel is full, breakers trip under normal use, an inspector has flagged the panel, or you are adding a load the old service cannot carry: an EV charger, a heat pump, a hot tub, a generator. We replace the panel, the meter base and the wiring that feeds them, sized for how the house is used now.

  • Service upgrades
  • Main service repairs
  • Meter riser repairs
  • Panel replacement

The part that matters

Fixed within two days

A customer wrote that we were super quick to communicate and had their panel fixed within two days. That is the standard on service work.

Panel, service, riser

The panel is the box of breakers inside. The service is everything that feeds it: meter base, riser, weatherhead, service entrance cable. A panel swap is enough when the service already has capacity. Going to 200 amps replaces the whole chain.

The riser is what storms take out. In most of Central Ohio the utility owns the meter and the wires from the pole; you own the mast, weatherhead and meter base. After a storm the utility will not reconnect until your side is repaired. That repair is one of our most common calls.

Signs the panel is telling you something

Breakers that trip when two appliances run together. Lights that dim when the air conditioner starts. Warmth, buzzing or a burning smell at the panel. No spare slots, doubled-up breakers, fuses, rust. Any of those is worth a look, and we will tell you whether it is a repair or an upgrade.

Questions

Service Upgrades questions

Do I need 200 amps?
If you are adding a large load to a house that already runs near its limit, usually yes. We look at the panel and the loads and tell you either way.
A storm pulled my meter riser off. Who fixes it?
In most of Central Ohio that is the homeowner's side. We repair it and coordinate the reconnect with your utility.
Does it need a permit?
Yes. We pull it and schedule the inspection. The utility will not energize a new service until it passes.
How long is the power off?
Most of a working day for a full upgrade, because the utility disconnects before and reconnects after inspection. A panel swap is shorter.
Is the work warrantied?
Panel replacements typically carry a one-year warranty on our work. Terms vary by job, so ask when you get the estimate.
